I remember a quote from RSDTyler in his motivation video that connects with this. He says that all your brain wants to do is have some kids and survive. It doesn't care about your goals. Oneitis is a symptom of your brain completing your biological function, not what you want.

exactly and It's not wise to have reproduce with multiple women in this society. If you decides that you want to have kids in raised them then it's your best interest to marry a woman and raise them together.

Almost all our tendencies are geared towards optimal reproduction, this is just one facet of them - oneitis is a reproductive adoption to increase odds of reproduction for those incapable of copulating with multiple women.
Or, that's the theory ...I'm no scientist and such research is often considered "taboo" (un-PC) in science.
