It's the latest insult of the year. How can we do more to degrade our society than diagnose intellectual men with a socio-mental disorder, disregard them, and outcast them from social pools for it. I've researched autism, watched videos, tried to understand but I just don't get it.
They lack empathy? Or is it just how they communicate their complete lack of empathy? Ridiculous example: if I said your haircut is ugly with a monotone voice, maybe with a limp wrist, nervous pointer finger at my target and then stood by idly waiting for peoples response would that be autistic VERSUS being in an already heated argument and saying something like "your haircut is fucking ugly, go kill yourself!" with an angry face followed with "what the fuck yall looking at?" The first shows lack of character while the second flows into a more predicable act. Is that what we're diagnosis kids and grown men these days with? It seems to be. Because the original diagnosis does not line up with what society and new doctors are cashing in on.
Maybe it's just that-- doctors stir up paranoia and cash in on parent's ignorance and fears that their kid won't be normal. I get it the stats have increased since one or two decades ago for autism. People are asking why. We got internet. Kids can learn a million times faster and learn more about things beyond their lifespans plus they have little emotional inhibition it'd be like walking among aliens or those super-intelligent race of humans you see in sci fi movies; talking in calm monotone no desire for social game, prefer facts over directness. Pure rationality.
So there's the social definition of autism used as an insult-- you're being too logical in an emotionally heated environment or you're disliked and your lack of empathy is an easy target.
Then there's the medical definition which has changed over the years but it seems to be the same fundamentals-- social unawareness/rusty
It seems as well doing any amount of extensive research on a particular subject for shits and giggles is considered autistic these days. A decade ago it was just 'obsessed'.
Someone explain what it is medically. Preferably from someone here with real autism. I feel like a lot of this is bullshit.
