1. You either won't want to start or you'll dabble and give up. It's too painful. You'll only fully commit to it when the pain of staying the same feels worse.

  2. Practice regularly or you're never going to get any better. I'd suggest "regularly" is at least three weekly sessions.

  3. Go hard when you practice. One set, then dicking around for 30 minutes won't get you any better.

  4. Practice with good form or you're never going to get any better. If you have no idea what you're doing, seek professional help.

  5. SO MUCH of it is pushing yourself through something you don't want to do. Whether it's the initial approach, staying in set or getting physical, you'll feel that internal *eurrrrgh* of your brain not wanting to do it.

  6. Loud EDM.

  7. You'll be surrounded by bellends who are better than you. Try to ignore them.

  8. Your ego will be completely broken, just as your muscles break in the gym. Let it rebuild and you'll come back stronger.

  9. You get started for superficial reasons, but end up appreciating being the more subtle benefits.

  10. It gets easier over time. You'll learn to love it.

  11. You'll be so proud of your transformation.

  12. You're never truly "done". Accept that this is something you'll always need to take care of.
