I'm in a wheelchair, and very independent, but shy. I sometimes get asked if I need help, sometimes from very attractive women. I know that asking someone for help can actually create a stronger connection between two people, but it's usually for things I can do without help. For example, as I was getting out of my car the other day, a pretty blonde asked if I needed help. I wanted to engage with her, but said no, because I didn't actually need help, and didn't want her to think I was some helpless thing. Today, of course, I'm wondering what would have happened if I'd said yes, and struck up a conversation.

I'd like to be able to use these opportunities to my advantage, but my shyness and pride, and a lack of knowing how to handle the situation, gets in the way. Any ideas?
