You ever go to a place with a dance floor and wind up on the edge, sipping a drink, checking your phone, smiling indifferently at people who walk past? Yeah man I too HATED dancing. I’m 28 years old and only started this year.

What I realized is this: everyone out there is so self conscious about how they look, they are absolutely not worrying about you. And the ones who aren’t self conscious because they know how to dance? They’re too busy having fun to care about you, that’s why they went there in the first place. Because that’s exactly what I’m doing, having fun and not faulting anyone.

Hold your head up high, make occasional eye contact with those around you, and loosely copy a few moves you see. The music will start to take over and it no longer becomes a “what move should I be doing?” situation.

My first ever night out I had a few women come dance with me and it was the best boost to the ego I’ve had in a long time. Ever since then I’ve rounded up a posse of friends and cut a rug every weekend. It’s something I went from detesting to really looking forward to doing every weekend.

Go out there and have fun, y’all. Learn a new skill no matter how awkward you feel, how much you hate it at first. Funny looking dude on the floor is better than smiley guy at the table.

You’ll never know when you’ll meet someone outside of a club who hasn’t danced before. If they’re fun, they’ll let you teach them. 😉
