I'm going to be moving in a few weeks to a new city. The apartment complex I'm moving to is supposed to be full of young professional singles like myself. I won't know anyone when I move in. Currently I live in an apartment complex that has an older demographic and no one really talks to each other. When I move, I want to make good impressions on people and hopefully find some good friends.

This post isn't explicitly looking for advice on meeting women, but I'm looking for advice on how to attract other people at a new home.

My idea at the moment is to knock on neighbors doors after I move in with a 6-pack of beer (male equivalent of cookies or something?) and introduce myself/offer brews. I'm not an outgoing person, so I feel the need to plan out some things before I make the move, otherwise I can see myself getting lazy and keeping to myself.

What experiences have you guys had with making friends at apartments? Any advice, however obvious it may seem, will be useful! Thanks.
