Dude. That seems like a pretty clear signal that she wants to get to know you.
Ask her out.

If you make it not awkward, asking a girl out and getting rejected is never awkward. If she says no, because she is friendly with you she will be nice about it and it will only be as shitty as you make. If this is the case you have to realize that you did a good thing that will only lead you to success as a habit, and it didn't work out this time.
You may even never see her again, which would mean you have absolutely nothing to lose. But even if you do, if you stand proud in the face of rejection, there is a certain prestige to it.
All that said: she is probably gonna say yes to you asking her out. She seems like she likes you. You have nothing to lose if she says no, and you could gain if she says yes, which is likely.
Don't just say, 'Would you like to go out sometime.' Pick a time and say would you like to go for a drink at X time on X date, or for pho, or sushi, or whatever. If she says she's busy, and doesn't suggest a second time, you suggest a second time, and if she doesn't accept or tell you her schedule then, let her go.
It is absolutely crucial that you ask her out.

Go to her new work place, order something and before you leave ask her out or at least her number

She asked what coffee shops you go ... this doesn't look like just being friendly.
Ask her number, you will not lose anything ...

I get that a lot of simple questions are asked quite frequently on this sub but it isn’t necessary to blatantly insult OP. We should all be encouraging one another.

Everyone starts out differently, even things that you view as obvious, aren’t obvious for others yet.
All I’m sayin is that there are better ways to approach situations like this

....The cashier who works at the coffee place began to remember my name....we'd talk about how I just get off work before class or.... Mundane, I know.
NOT mundane. It's way too common around here that guys downplay or dismiss REALLY fucking valuable skills.
David Wygant talks about the point person around the 2:00 minute mark of this video; a person you regularly interact with, who works at a place you go to regularly, like a grocery store clerk, bank teller, or....... coffee shop barista.
Talking to this person, leads to rapport and this Point Person is a great way to start conversations that can draw other people in.
What you've done here is bigger than you think. It goes beyond this ONE girl. You've developed a skill that you could be using to create experiences that lead to meeting people (including women) everywhere.

I feel like I should do something about it, like ask for her number, but I don't want to be forward if she's just being friendly.
You're missing the point. The point was never just this ONE girl. The point is that interacting with people who work at the places you go to frequently, opens up a lot of potentially good experiences.
When you get into conversations with people at coffee shops, grocery stores, etc., you are creating opportunities. And what will happen is that people around you will react in ways that show their openness to interact with you.
Some people will join in without you having to do anything. Those are good leads to follow up on. Some people will be stand-off-ish. They'd be harder to get at and probably less worth your time.

This girl..... Just chat her up the last few times you see her. And realize that part of her job description is basically to be friendly. So if she wants to see you after she's done at that location, she'll hint at wanting you to do something, like get a number.
..... maybe we'll see each other on campus.
This wasn't a hint. If she had said, "We should see each other again....." Or something with a different word like should, rather than an uncertain word like "maybe," then it would be more like a hint. As it is, what she's said is politely weak.
Don't sweat it. And don't forget that what you've learned here is bigger than this one girl. You SHOULD be interacting with more people in your daily life, like you do with her.
