Sorry for the convoluted title, I tried to make keywords so others could find this if they dig themselves a hole.
So I met this girl at a local concert, had a day 2 the next day, probably could have pulled but I actually felt something and I can't do that to people I actually like. Had a day 3 about 3 days after that and then a day 4 where I couldn't take it anymore and we did the dirty.
THAT'S WHEN I STARTED MESSING UP.
Basically I caught feelings, which isn't a bad thing but I fell into the trap of oneitous. As this happened, she also started becoming busier and so the texts were less frequent and I was acting like a little bitchly schoolboy. I was just getting really in my head whenever she would respond slowly. This came to a head today when we were supposed to hangout and she canceled last minute and I was pissed off but I responded cooly and then she said "I know you think I'm lying but I really have insert obligation here" to which I sent a long text message saying I get it but girls will say and have said anything to "let me down easy" and that I'd respect it a lot more if they just said they didn't want to see each other anymore wrong move. To which she replied "I'm not your ex.". And it was at that moment I knew I had really fucked up. So I said "that's fair, sorry I was such a fuck." and then she didn't respond. And as I'm sure y'all know that when you are super into a girl and you say some stuff that doesn't come out right it's like the world is ending. So my first impulse was to shoot her more and more texts to try and explain and apologize but I stopped myself. This is where I had several realizations. First of all, being conscious of your texts is WAY more important than you realize for a couple reasons. First, like in a normal, face-to-face interaction you should be mirroring their style and speech pattern, not an exact copy but similar. It just gives the illusion of connectedness, but conversely you should also guide/set the tone of the interaction. Second, it's important not to have an imbalance of text lengths. What I mean is that, on my phone, my texts are blue and theirs are yellow, there should be an even amount of blue and yellow if not less blue and I realized there was a lot more blue. Third, I had not been mirroring the time between texts. Granted I don't fully believe in this principle but it does give some indication to your availability and neediness. If you reply too fast it gives the appearance you've been waiting just for them to reply which shows you're too available and very needy. So I have been forcing myself to wait a good 15 to 25 minutes before responding when I am actually available right then.
So what ended up happening is that I just didn't say anything else. My plan was going to be to wait a few days and then say something like "hey, I feel really bad about this weekend. I was totally out of line, but If you'd like, I'd love to make it up to you." and see where it went. BUT she actually responded a few hours later qualifying herself and even offering another day she was free. So everything worked out in the end.
Moral of the story is to wait before you text and brainstorm the best way to put something. I would also suggest to always be positive and empathetic so you don't create awkward situations for yourself.
there doesn't seem to be anything here
