So I’m not sure if this really adds anything to the community, but at least it’s somewhat involved in the community.
Have you ever had or seen/heard a bad date?
I did tonight. I was at a restaurant, and a guy and a girl sit in the booth behind me. [I did see the guy, but I did see the girl when she had to get up and walk towards the back of the restaurant] I’m assuming that its intended as a date, and that they are around high school age. Well, after they were seated he starts going off about how certain movies were horrible, and other actors were bad. It gets to the point where he even asks the girl if she hated one movie, and which were the ones she hated most. His entire communication with her was negative. [She wasn’t able to get much in conversation wise] She ended up excusing herself soon after that.
[This is the time I should have gotten up and introduce myself to suggest that he 1. Slow down his speech, 2. Avoid negative conversations, and 3. Start up a new conversation where she would talk more (i.e. her favorite clothing/shoes/school subject). I didn’t… sadly, it got worse]
She came back. He continued the ranting for a bit, until she [I’m assuming she started texting] stopped paying attention. Then [here’s the kicker] started talking about another guy and how she felt about him. He fell for it, and sided with her about how that guy was an asshole. She also asked the waiter for the check as well. For me, it was painful. It sounded like the girl wasn’t enjoying it either.
So question to the community…. Is it advisable help/advise a stranger/guy recover on a bad date? Also: Do you have any stories like this where you or a couple you’ve heard had a date go south really quickly?
