Ok so I know this topic has definitely been discussed, but I'm not much of a sedditor and I couldn't exactly find the information I was looking for. So my conundrum:
I just recently turned 21 and I have good skill pua'ing friends of friends. I'm personal, kind, friendly, interesting and I know the ropes of getting along (Not trying to be cocky, just extrovertive overall). If I know the people I'm around, I have no trouble moving forward. In this case, escalation is not a problem and I can do it quite effortlessly. Closing comes easily. However, I am soft spoken and have no idea how to approach foreign girls. By this I mean girls who I have absolutely no connection to.
I am almost one month into being 21 (I had a fake but I was very cautious with it and therefore got little use out of it). I almost always have a good time at the bars. If I get drunk enough, I'll just dance the night away. Fuck it. Dancing is sweet and casual to me. I am usually one of the first of my group of friends to chat it up with guys, girls, or whoever is near me, but I could really use some tips on how to talk to "random" girls AND progress. Like the girls I want to.
As I've seen here, a lot of progression is about dropping a kind line and walking away (not showing interest, being "cool," pointing out something interesting, making an observation, or a tossing a compliment.) That's my game. Always. I go to a large college and have gained experience outside of bars (mostly because I'm a Boss at my house), yet I have difficulty NOT BEING A PUSSY when it comes to talking to/approaching new girls at bar. How do you gain the attention of someone who doesn't care a bit about you (until you actuaaally prove them wrong). In the area I live in, walking away and hoping to meet up later does not work. At least for me. I need something more concrete.
Like mentioned above, I go to a pretty large college and the city I live in isn't much smaller. This makes it difficult to approach a group of five girls who are dancing in a circle or three girls who have their backs turned to everyone at the bar (even though many times they are visually, even if not mentally, the girls i wish to approach). I try. Honestly, I just do it and get rejected. I feel like a quimby. But so many times its an "I don't care and just want to dance with the girls tonight" kind of thing (I think; or I'm doing it wrong). HOW DO YOU BREAK THAT?!
More information: I currently live in a medium sized city with people who mostly know each other. I go to a large college outside of this place, so I have difficulty blending in with these people that are used to being here all the time. I feel like these people all pretty much know each other. I could have a valuable and meaningful conversation because I go to a (again not being a dick but true) much crazier school than them so I have extravagant experiences to share, but I can't seem to gain the right ground.
I guess at this point I'm looking for information on opening. In a week I am moving to a major city and will have a much different experience opening. At this point I feel like if I can't do it in a middle sized town I am doomed in a big city.
Please seddit, with all your knowledge, tell me how to get over this slump. Tear me apart, call me a queer, tell me I almost doing it right, wrong or backwards, but please give me some advice to beat the learning curve that I can't seem to pass. Thank you.
--> TLDR; Really drunk post after a third consecutive night of no success. I make do at my college place, but I suck at bars. At home now. This is very discouraging. Advice please. \
Also, I am going to bed. I'm that drunk, but this has been bugging me for a couple weeks now and I could really use some help. I hope to read my answer in the morning. Take it easy all.
