One of the most simple openers I use is "It's pretty hot outside" it gets the conversation going and shortly after if I want I can invite them to join me to enter the water.

Bringing a volleyball is one of the easiest ways to get a group thing going.

Oh man my go to beach thing is to throw a football around. Gives you a chance to sort of give em a spectacle. If you are athletic and know how to throw a football around chicks love it. i have caught multiple groups of girls just watching us throw around and check us out. It sounds corny but the old trick in American Pie two where they send Oz over with the football works.
