Hey guys,

So I've recently been trying to be more assertive in the way I speak, and have been trying to navigate the ropes of onversation and become a better speaker in general. Today, I know that I was a little bit annoyed when I talked to a customer support representative for AT&T. While I resolved my issue, my sister overheard my conversation and thought that I sounded rude. I talked to her about why she thought so, and she eventually relabeled my tone of voice as authoritative.

I really hope I didn't give the customer rep. a worse day because of our conversation. I've been really happy and had a high self-esteem recently, and this revelation is getting me a little down.

I have always thought of myself as a good person and a nice guy in general. I don't like the idea that maybe I'm coming off as rude or mean. That might be a little needy and insecure about caring what others think, but I'm being honest. I don't want to hurt other people through my actions; I must be doing something wrong.

I'm feeling a little bit down because there is the possibility that I have mistaken being a dick with being assertive and respectful. Can you guys help pick me up? I'm trying to grow as a person and would like some support. Has anyone else been in my position?

Thanks guys
