Hi, I'm sure you clicked here for a story or some advice, but I'm actually looking for one from you. As it cannot be concise I have to get started from what I think is relevant begining. For majority of my life I have been surrounded by people. I'm social person and I do enjoy company. Never introvert. As I finished high school I had been in a steady relationship and pretty happy about it. But the idiot gear kicked in and I felt like there is something more in this world and I distanced myself from that person until the relationship broke. In retrospective, I now find this to be a good decision, even subconscious one. During next few years I went to college, dated new people, started working full time on menial jobs, and slowly drifting away from college. My jobs had best been described as rotten hellholes filled with burnout people. Which I guess my mind took too personal at that time and I started distancing myself from people I didnt care about much. That plus, growing up part. Now what I think I missed here is the constant influx of new people in my life. People I met on my job were not my age, and uninteresting to me in social aspect. But nonetheless, I could still go out and meet new people. Which I did and got myself during next few years a couple of 6 months relationships. They all broke down because at that time I had stupid '90 movies romance where no effort is made and everything just works between people. So at any sign of trouble, I would drop it and move on. And after a while I started losing interest in everything so I started skipping college. I still worked in hellhole. And then I meet a person who was everything I wanted at the time. And this was my first venture into living with someone other than my family. I gave it a shot, 6 months. Where that person proved unbearable and I had to pack my shit and leave. I skipped dating 2 years after that. I changed my job, started getting back to shape and reconnected with people I had lost since my high school days. It was hard, but I have the will to do it. I had met another person, who had a will to try hard for me, and I really wanted to do it as well, but I blame luck for that. Since day 1 in that relationship, shit was happening every day, where I would find at the end that I'm far better off handling it myself than trusting partner would have helped me. We havent lasted a year. Which brings me to today. I have trouble meeting new people. It used to be easy in high school or in college where you would simply start a conversation with anyone and hit it off from there. Now I go to pubs, hangout at social gatherings with friends, and I really take any chance this life throws at me. But the thing is, I met over dozen new persons in this 3-4 months, and they all, with no exception have 0 insterest in keeping in touch. Even friendly chat seems impossible, not to talk about dating or being together. Only thing that comes to mind is, people I meet at pubs are there for one night stands and they would preffer not to keep in touch. But then, what about all the people who met me through a 3rd party? I'm seriously worried that I lack something to be interesting to people. People from my past have the same pattern I swear. I can go out with them but after a week or so, they just lose interest and stop replying to my messages. Only people who have been in my life through these last 10 years or so are 1 friend from HS, one from college and on/off 3 or 4 more. And those people more or less run into similar problems. If this is some local bullshit I am now ready to move away, and start fresh somewhere new, because I dont wanna live in city like this. I got a fairly well paid job now so that isnt an issue. I am really happy about my job as well, bit it is online one, and people are from all over the world. So no, I cant meet new people there. I would love to hear from someone here who has past my age (27 this year) that this is all just a phase in life where like puberty life just grows into something different, and if so, have you found someplace to meet up with people of same age and interest who really get you? It just keeps me up at night, because this city was full of people like me, and now it has all changed and there is new faces who are much younger now where I used to go out, but there are not many people my age anywhere. Like, they all got married? It seems surreal really...
