I don't know about articles but cocky comedy works for sure. When a girl tells me she likes my shirt or something I lean back and say "I know" and smile so she knows I'm joking.

This is one topic that I'm not sure would be delivered well in an article, since cocky funny is making a cocky/arrogant statement with the proper tonality and body language to make it obvious that you are only half way serious. Obviously demonstrating tonality and body language in an article isn't exactly easy. Not sure that helps. To answer your other question though, cocky funny always works.

My suggestion is to you is to go out there and experiment with it. Continue calibrating til it comes off right and you feel comfortable with it. You will likely blow yourself out a few times, but that's the price of playing the game.
