Imho you should call him up and tell him exactly how you feel. As a friend he should be able to understand and respect you. If you do that he will have the right expectations for potentially meeting you again. Give yourself the time you need. If he can't wait he is not the right intimate partner for you. Only do things you feel good about!! Also, you don't have to go from kissing to sex in one step. There are as many intermediate stages as you want, e.g. kissing and cuddling half naked. An intimate partner should do the following things:
