Confirmation bias for those that don't know is the phenomenon that our brains take significantly more notice of the events or data that confirm our held beliefs and tends to ignore that which challanges them. For instance you believe Asians are good at math and when your asked about why you believe that you mention how an Asian kid had yhe highest grade in your math class but forget about how the other 3 Asian kids failed it.
Most of us come here becausr we are bad with girls and want to get better. So you start working out and trying to be more social and after a few months you feel way better but still no girls. Your brain keeps reminding you that you still don't have a girlfriend or you still haven't gotten the balls up to cross the street and say hi to the hot chick you see walking by. You feel like all your work has been for nothing and just want to give up.
This is confirmation bias! Our brains really hate changing the way they think and will do everything they can to keep you thinking your bad with girls or whatever other negative thoughts you have about yourself.
Now sit down and think back about what has really happened. Maybe you've noticed that girls are checking you out more or someone, guy or girl, gave you a compliment. Perhaps you didn't cross street to talk to that hot girl walking by but you did start a conversation with the cute girl that sat next to you on the bus.
Right now your brain is probably fighting really hard telling you things like "the girls checking me out don't count because they aren't the girls I want" or "yeah but it was a guy that complimented me" or "I started a conversation but I was still to scared to ask for her number" or any other number of excuses that pertain to your specific situation.
It's partially right you haven't crossed the finish line yet and there is always more room for improvement. Even olympic athletes find ways to improve in their sport. However, lets take a step back you have made changes and people are noticing you! Think about how huge a change that is. That is measurable progress, that's progress to be proud of.
Our brains are stubborn assholes and can be our own biggest enemies. When your feeling down take some time and think about the successes your brain is ignoring. Stay strong your making progress.
