Daygame tips?

Sasha Daygame, Johnny Soporno, David X, Zan Perrion. Anything from those guys is worth it's weight in gold. Youtube and Google are your friends.

Sasha has an awesome talk from the 21 Convention about direct daygame you should definitely check out. I'll give you the end goal though in case you don't watch it..

Salutation and pre-frame ("Hi, this is a little odd but.." or like Sasha does "Relax I'm not a crazy person but..")
Statement of intent/desire ("You're fucking gorgeous and I had to talk to you")
Escalate ("We need coffee")

Then you can go into the "what are you doing today" sort of banter. Sasha, again, has some great infield stuff.

By you saying that your demonstrating low value. Nobody asks to start a conversation it just isn't normal. Let me ask you something. When you meet people through your social group or class do you ask them "can we start a conversation?" I'm glad your actually approaching and sooner or later you will fail so much that it will be CLEAR what you are doing wrong. That's how you become better.
