This phenomenon which has never occurred and is peculiarly coinciding with my development as a person has been springing up recently, and by recently I mean last night. On two separate occasions, clearly insecure dudes threatened me.
The first dude was smoking a cigarette outside of the door I was leaving. I said "Sup dude" as I left the door and as I'm walking away, he starts getting belligerent, following us and saying "what the fuck are you smiling at, huh?" to which I responded "You, because you're a cool dude." After some distance it was clear that he was not about it at all and just wanted to feel manly to himself because he probably got denied sex or something so he walked back to his original smoking spot, uttering what I could only imagine to be obscenities about me.
The second dude was inside of a burrito eatery late at night. Everyone was quite obviously drunk and in line, one guy was pushing another, and the one being pushed was yelling "HARDER! HARDER!" obviously for attention. I yelled "HARDER!" too, maybe in a half-mocking way but honestly, you could have played along with what I said without it being hostile.
Anyway, his gargantuan friend was like "Who you laughin' at, Cosmo Kramer?" and I replied "You guys, because you're pushing each other." At this point the manager showed up and yelled at them saying that if they don't shut the fuck up, they'll be kicked out.
Last night, without even trying (which is how I believe it should be done) I brought two girls to the verge of K-close but I wasn't attracted to either of them enough to want to kiss them. I was just having fun and I guess they wanted it to be sexual. What I mean is they kept making themselves physically vulnerable to me, putting themselves in situations where they obviously wanted me to kiss them, and in fact one girl even went ahead and kissed me without and prior provocation.
So I think my security with women and beyond is disturbing these dudes, furthering my stance that the vast majority of straight dudes suck. Even my best friend told me that thanking a girl for sex was "skeevy" wtf? I SNL'd a girl last weekend and then texted her a few days later thanking her for the sex and telling her it was the best I've had, and she responded by saying with a bunch of smiley faces that she felt the same way and thanked me for the sex as well. I tell the former to my friend and he goes "Don't thank girls for sex... That's skeevy" in a really whiny inflection. My friend who is a female was also there and said "Ehh" expressing doubt toward my guy friend's statement, indicating that she thinks what I did was cool/cute. I gave in and responded saying "I mean, the whole thing was pretty skeevy, I felt like I was in a porno" and he turned it around on me trying to make it seem like I was a pervert. "Oh yeah? Did you come on her face?" I tried to make it into a joke and said "No, I came IN her face" but at that point he had already, at least, in my mind, succeeded in trying to bring me down. Which is shitty of him because for far too long I relied on him for advice and guidance with women because he was not needy and therefore successful and now that I'm not only not needy but also really fucking fun to be around, he feels like he's losing or something. But maybe it's my own insecurity which is blowing this way out of proportion. The three of us went into a photography exhibit where I commented on one of the pictures saying "Oh that one's pretty cool" and it happened to be a picture of a female's face. He responded saying "You're saying that because you want to fuck her." I said "Sure. Sure I want to fuck her" in a confused way as to indicate that what he's asserting is absurd.
I don't know man, I just really don't like almost any of the straight guys I know and all of the straight guys that I don't know. They don't know how to cut loose and are way to dependent on this antiquated conception of masculinity. I even asked my friend later when we were at the party why he was saying that he never wants to be "that white dude at the party rapping along to every lyric" and he said "because I care about what other people think of me" as if caring about what other people think of you is something to be defended, something that's a virtue. God dammit. I need to find new friends.
Okay, that was a major digression. Back to the original thing at hand: how do I disarm, through the art of rhetoric, AMOGs who are being either verbally or physically aggressive? I know Tyler has said some stuff on this, like embarrass them in front of the whomever they're trying to impress, but is there more to it? Does anyone have more details? In addition to being smaller than the pussies who flex by trying to start fights with me, I'm striving to make non-violence a value that I live by.
