That was well handled.
Some girls (and even some women) are just too immature to handle any kind of sexual relationship. This girl in particular sounds young and is learning to experiment with getting attention.
Immature women are a bit like the "no sex before marriage" crowd, or the "play hard to get" crowd. It's fun for them to do that when they are young, but age catches up with them. By and large they're doing this with every man. If they don't change, then they hit the wall at 35 and wonder why no man pays them any attention anymore. Then they end up as depressed old women with nothing but bitterness and hatred for men.
Too busy trying to control men, and not interested in having loving relationships or trying to start a family.

Women have been taught to define themselves by their couple or their pretenders. And women that try to manipulate men for attention often try to prove something to themselves.
Neglecting attention to her and specially moving on with your life probably triggered her insecurities, made her think she's not worthy and above all; that something's wrong with her.
Be proud of putting yourself first and not taking her bs.
