The Plank footpath analogy is a great way of putting it.. But the core reason for the fear is simply the. STAKES. on the ground you dont need to think hard about making a mistake because at worst you will just step on the flow, but up on a tower a little miscalculation of your step may be the end of life for you. Which explains why it's easier to just talk to girls we meet at School,Neighbourhood, Church, Freinds of Freinds and....... Than saying huy to the cuttie you sow at the Super market.

This is very true, and I would even go a step further. There is an experiment you can find online where they have two sets of people throwing basketballs, the first set are in white shirts, and the second set are wearing black shirts. At the start of the video, they ask you to count how many times the team in the white shirts pass the ball.
But, what they don’t tell you is that a bear or gorilla he’s going to walk through the screen as well watching these two teams pass the ball. You would think that everybody would notice the gorilla, but actually nobody does, they’re so focused on counting how many times the white team passes the ball that the gorilla doesn’t even register. This is essentially what people do all the time. We decide things about ourselves and about the world, and then we make a subconscious point of only ever seeing things that back up our world view
Oh that very interesting experiment. Just like many times I talk to girls and I have created replies in my head before they say anything, and then couple of hours or days later I analyse the conversation i had and i will be like fu*k that was an easy way to create great interaction or impression and I fucked it up by giving some dead ready reply.
which is why living in the present moment is very very essential.
