I don't think the question is whether you're high value or not. I think many people here are just introverts - which is not the same as timid, shy - which also means that they don't enjoy socializing the same way and/or to the same extent as extroverts. Alcohol helps with that and makes you enjoy things you wouldn't while sober.
I love alcohol.

man, you can't change biology. It's ok. You can pickup as an introvert. It takes a little more effort.

It's biologically impossible to reprogram your brain, which means that, as an introvert, going out every day may get tiring because introverts recharge their "mental batteries" by being alone and there is no changing that. Also, if I remember correctly, introverts tend not to like small talk and other things you can easily look up (it's science).
Of course you don't need alcohol to pickup, but I find alcohol useful, because it helps with the way pickup works - approaching many women, not running out of things to say, etc - and it's genuinely fun, especially when going out with my "team" (basically Fridays and Saturdays) even on "bad" nights.
That said, I don't think you must be shitfaced to pickup - absolutely, est modus in rebus - but, on the other hand, you don't even have to join AA.

Very true. Being shitfaced is very detrimental.
