Well I feel it depends of what you want to achieve. If they are just some "quick girls" sure, just go with "guess my age".
If you want to really befriend them I am really against this idea. If they don't like you because of your age they are not worth it, to be honest.

You shouldn't lie about anything.
However, everything is target related. Personally, if you want to translate your game into something that's effortless, I'd minimize the lying. Pragmatically, lying is just another skill, you should avoid trying to get better at 2 skills at once.
If your age is coming up by your target, then I suggest analyzing your approach.

You're not required to tell anyone shit if you don't want to. A playful "don't worry about" frames you in control of the social encounter in a mysterious light.

Yes, it seems like they sometimes loose interest when you're younger than them. The girl I'm dating right now said she wouldn't want to hook up with anyone younger than her, that it'd make her feel old.

This is what she's saying, but it's not necessarily the truth. Girls have these standards in their mind where they won't date a guy who's younger, shorter, etc., but when it comes down to it they would make an exception to the "rule" if the guy is cool enough.
As far as the age thing, I wouldn't lie about it. I wouldn't lie about anything. They'll be able to tell. Instead, after finding out her age try teasing her about it saying she's trying to "rob the cradle" or maybe ask if she prefers the super-absorbent or regular "Depends" diapers. Chances are she preferred the super-absorbent ones as they also make adequate cushions on firm wooden chairs.

Yeah - I guess the point is to kind of make her realize that age doesn't matter. What can somebody who is 30 do that somebody who is 22 can't? It's insignificant. Many older men aren't nearly as well off as somebody who is taking the time to better himself.
