Just act cool about it. Then in the next meetup, after you had your date, go escort her to her home and say ''By the way, sorry for not dropping you off on our last date :)'', when you're going away or after you kiss her for a goodbye ;)

There is no next meeting until there is next meeting. If your date is mediocre askimg for a second meeting during the date or in its end phase comes of as a bit needy.
I don't see any problem with you not dropping her off unless you wanted to get in. You should only do these things if she deserves them e.g. she behaves well, falls into your frame, complies to you. Then you can reward her. Otherwise you are putting her on a pedestal. She is not a baby. She knows how to get home.
