Yes looks matter. If you don't have some looks or at least good grooming you're starting a race farther from the line.

Yes but he has to try much harder to do it. Remember the story of the beauty and the beast. The beast was wealthy, strong, masculine, protective, romantic, intelligent and endearing.

yes it matters alot no matter what anyone says. I live in a pretty conservative country, where a guy is supposed to do all the chasing. Where talking to strangers is not really commonplace. Things like small-talk are almost non-existant between strangers. But I get girls approaching me in clubs, on the subway, on the street.
Yet, this doesn't really happen to my friends or anyone else I know. My favorite is when I go to a store or a resturant and I get in the zone if the worker is a girl. (Strong eye contact, flirty tone/smiles, open body language on my part), and watching them get visibly nervous / flustered.
