I'm researching how spaces with varying degrees of conversational permission affect a person's level of comfort when engaging with strangers.

High conversational permission = Small gathering of friends

Lower conversational permission = Sporting Event

Even lower conversational permission = At a resturant (booth seating)

Super Low conversational permission = Broadway theatre performance

There are many factors that contribute to conversational permission including social distance, norms, motivation for being there, etc.

While my research focuses on the topic of initial interactions with strangers more generally, I'm curious to hear what people here in /r/seduction have to say on the topic. I'm specifically interested in knowing:

  • what locations make engaging a person very easy
  • what locations make engaging a person very difficult
  • what are some indicators that let you know that you can successfully engage a person in conversation
  • what are some indicators that let you know that you probably won't be able to engage a person in conversation
