So I was dating a girl and the vibes were perfect through the first few dates (constant confirmation through text and in person). Like absolutely crushing it to the point she said she could see herself falling in love with me pretty hard. We both were looking for something easy, minimal hangups, convenient, basically fwb but potentially more. So I have to leave town for something for a friend and go across country. Prior to this we are talking literally nonstop and falling asleep talking to each other. Good stuff.

Over the course of the last week and weekend she basically stops talking to me. I shoot her some messages here and there, maybe once or twice a day (I'm in the middle of a bachelor party, so its hectic lol). Her responses take hours and sometimes days, despite us having a date going really well the day before I fly out, making out, and talking pretty dirty over the phone and text.

So I come back and this continues, and somehow it got to a head last night and I ask what's up and if she wants to chill today. We work something out but before the night ends she basically said she doesnt know if shes feeling it anymore. I said just let me know if she doesnt want to do this anymore. I figure a date might help so I'm still down, since we didnt talk all weekend. And we figure it out.

I hit her up and she basically says that she loved the idea of me, just not me specifically. Now I dont mean to brag but I have quite a lot going for me, and her constant reinforcement that she was really into me makes me think it's all good. I'm not upset, but feel like I could have been superman at this point and would have got shot down because she had an idea of what she wanted me to be, and wasnt honest with herself or me about it.

So the lesson, to me is, dont project what you think someone should be, onto someone. No one is going to fit that cookie cutter you are thinking of, especially once you really get to know someone. Picking them apart is only going to lead to disappointment for both people.

Positive note is, I've already got another date tonight so when things go sideways, keep it moving hahaha.
