I’ve had my eye on this girl at work (larger company, completely separate divisions) for a while now. Had a few encounters. But today it was just us walking on the way out. I struck up some small talk, admitungly a bit awkward and bland. Just about weekend plans, where we went to school, that sort of thing. Couple things I noticed:

I was able to make her laugh but she wouldn’t reciprocate most of my closed end questions (ie “I went to XX, how about you?)

I got her number by saying we should go to lunch sometime. She agreed took my phone, put her number in and called herself. I couldn’t help but notice she seemed shocked/uncomfortable almost when I asked for her number.

Lastly, would it be weird to pivot and just straight up ask her out for drinks? Or should I stick to the lunch plan?
