So today at my university campus I decided I would make myself a goal to practice pickup and approaching at least once a day or minimum 3 times a week.

So today I was actually lost and couldn't find my class ( I said actually because before I would use being lost as an excuse to approach girls)

So I look around for signs pointing in the right direction, as crowds of students walk to and fro. I continue scanning the area until my eyes locked on a girl in a bench about 15 metres in front of me.

With Terminator-like accuracy my brain analyzed her and I came to the conclusion that she was probably my age, lived on residence, and seemed approachable.

So I did what seemed to be coming easy for me lately, approaching. I went to her, said " Hey can I ask you something?" And then asked about directions.

Fast forward about 55 seconds and she offers to walk me to the place I'm looking for.

At first I thought she was only doing it because she was nice so I was careful to not come on too strong and already assume she was into me.

Until she started asking me things right off the bat like, where I'm from, my life, my classes, my highschool stuff like that. She seemed to be actually interested so I thought she had to be into me, even just a little ( not to mention she actually almost risked being late for her own class to help me).

So after about 4 minutes of conversation, we get to my destination, and this is where I fucked up.

I could have easily said " Hey thanks for showing me the way, do you think I could get your number? Maybe we could talk sometime?"

My dumbass brain shuts off and says " thanks so much! See ya!"

I honestly think I blew it, but I see this as a learning process.

So my question for you reddit is.....

What's a good way to finish off a pickup that works a large portion of the time?

TL;DR Tried picking up a girl at my college, went really smooth, but I chicken'd out at the end and didn't get her number
