First time poster, 2 week lurker. A close friend of mine introduced me to seddit two weeks ago when I was having trouble getting over a girl I was friendzoned by and let me tell you, I'm thankful he did. I have already learnt so much from my time lurking seddit and understand what I have been doing wrong when it comes to even initiating a conversation with a girl.

The whole plan for last night was to obviously have fun but also take the advice/techniques I have read and use them to achieve one goal which was to “simply” approach a girl. I have approach anxiety and always come up with pathetic excuses to why I shouldn't just go for it. Every club or bar I have been to in the past I've been the wallflower that just hangs there too afraid of approaching someone.

So this is what happened that night: Was standing with my friend when I saw HB8 walk from the dance floor alone to the bar to get a drink. I told my buddy something along the lines of 'hey look over there, should I go for it?' he responded saying “Yeah, do it, do it, do it” and before I had time to reply he pushed me in her direction. That push was all I needed. I walked up to her standing up straight and looking confident, tapped her on the shoulder and opened. My opening line was corny and she picked up on that and laughed so I went along with it and admitted it was bad and poked fun at myself, as soon as she started laughing I was comfortable and initiated kino (touching her arm etc) we began talking and flirting and after telling her I better get back to my mate because I promised I’d go dance with him I managed to get her number and wrap it up with a hug.

Today/Conclusion Added her on Facebook, chatted for a while she seems really cool, we're going to meet up at the same bar next week.

Considering my only goal was to only approach a girl and talk to them, getting her number and closing with a hug felt huge for me. I have read before: “The only way to get over approach anxiety is to approach” and also “Baby steps” I am excited for what the future has to bring now knowing I have faced my fear and accomplished a goal I had set out.

My newbie advice: APPROACH APPROACH APPROACH ! Just do it, you get that hit of adrenaline when you're walking over to the person of interest!

TL;DR: Have AA, never approached a girl before, went out to bar approached HB8, hug and #close, organised hang out next week. Thank you seddit for help
