Long time lurker and throwaway as my friends know my other account.
So a couple of weeks ago i was at a conference. And this girl, we'll call her Melanie, who i kind of know was there. We were seated next to one another at the table and we immediately hit it off, conversation was great, lots of kino, and the vibe was electric. We went out that night with the other partners and ended up dancing and making out. Was awesome.
However, after the night i found out that she had been in a brief relationship with a friend (we'll call him brad) of my best friend. I also found out that their relationship was rocky, the guy had lots of internal issues and often lashed out on her, and was over possessive, intense and took out a lot of his internal issues on her, but had ended it a few weeks before this party.
Anyway, after the party, we began texting a lot, went on a couple of dates and made out a few more times, however a couple of weeks in i noticed something felt... off. Something in my gut told me something wasn't right but i couldn't put my finger on it at the time. So fast forward to a couple of nights ago and i'm having dinner with my best friend from earlier.
He proceeds to tell me that the girl was drunk calling brad and asking where he was on a night out one day before we went out on a date. She also had dinner with him and some of her other friends the day after.
When i found out of course i was slightly bummed. i somewhat felt led on and lied to. But the next thing surprised me. I didn't feel totally upset, instead i felt empowered, for the first time in my life i went "ok, well, i'm not gonna let her pull me down." The old me would have been devastated, would have done the totally beta thing and hated brad for being the guy that treats her like shit and blamed everyone but me.
Instead. I went home that night, sure, slightly let down and frustrated, but instead of shutting myself away i had a full nights rest, woke up the next day and instead of drowning myself in alcohol or drugs i went to the gym and worked out and now i'm here writing this, reflecting, seeing where i could have improved my situation and how i can improve myself to find a woman who won't fuck me around, who likes me for me.
I might not be the best at game, i still get approach anxiety and i would say im far from being a casanova. But in this bad situation i feel that a lot of good came out of it. Feels good.
I don't know if anyone will read this but i think it's awesome to read the stories on here and it has taught me a lot.
Peace.
