A bunch of my buddies an I get lunch together at an all you can eat dining hall at my university. Last week an absolutely gorgeous girl walked past us, leaving us gawking. I recognized her from a class I had a few years ago, but didn't know her personally.
Today only a few of us were around, and in walks the girl again. She sits down at a table across the room and pulls out her laptop. In my head popped the idea to go talk to her and get her #. However, I didn't have a ton of confidence and found myself thinking about how to approach instead of just doing it. Here I really think I psyched myself out and made myself really nervous instead of just acting natural.
Anyway, I packed up my stuff and walked over to her. I opened with "is anyone sitting here?" She said no, and then I asked for her name. We talked briefly about the class we had together and about our majors, but the whole time I was stumbling over my words and probably sounding like a fool. Finally I said, "give me your number and we'll get some coffee sometime", handing her my phone. She obliged and I was in.
At this point, I really messed up. In my nervousness I really wanted to get out of there, so I told her id text her in the next few days to make plans. I got up, shook her hand and left. I should have just played it cool and sat and bullshitted with her for a bit - the hard part was over at that point.
I then somehow butt dialed her on the way out, but I used that to text her to let her know it was me, the dude from the dining hall. I'm very busy over the next few days and don't really have time to hang so I think I'll let her sit for a bit before asking her out.
Things I did well: Just fucking went for it. That was definitely my first cold approach in the day, and it freaked me out. One piece of advice I always carry with me is, "if you think about talking to a girl, you have to just do it." So I did and it worked out!
Things I didn't do well: Relaxing. I should have chit chatted with her for a bit but instead I think I kind of ran away.
there doesn't seem to be anything here
