First field report. Been lurking here for a bit, absorbing as much as I can, sort of putting it to practice, but for the most part I haven’t changed what I do as far as approaching women yet, though I know I should for some things.

Anyway, first week of classes, I met a girl in my class completely by chance. I was in the in the underground walkways behind the class waiting for the other class to end. No one is ever down there. This HB7 shows up and awkwardly opens the door to the class only to interrupt the class that’s currently in session. I make some comment like “yeah, I did the same thing” and just start up a conversation from there. Mostly just small-talk, I was in a pretty brain-dead mode.

Since then, I’ve seen her around in a few classes, we’ve talked a bit, still just general small talk sort of verging towards actually having depth, but not really, still mostly just about the classes (talking about the tests after class, the labs, etc), and after one class she waited around for me to leave with her, she shows some IOI occasionally but I could be reading into it. Even still, we’ve only talked maybe 3 or 4 times over the course of 5 weeks, so while this might say “friend-zone” since I’ve taken this long, I don’t think I am. I don’t feel I’m that important in her life to even put me in that category.

This week, I saw an opening to possibly get out of that zone. She’s been sitting at a table with one guy in the class, I knew it wasn’t her boyfriend, but I also didn’t know if she was single. My fraternity is having a party this weekend. After class, while she was still sitting at her table with the guy, I walk over and say “Hey, totally forgot to mention this to you at the review session the other day. My fraternity is having a party this weekend, you should come. You can bring your boyfriend too” motions towards guy sitting next to her.

She responded with “Oh, no he’s not… I don’t have a boyfriend.”

“Hey, that’s fine, you’re more than welcome to come too” talking to guy. “Here, let me get your number. I’ll let you know more detail when we finalize everything.” back to HB7.

I #-close, leave the class, felt pretty good. I pretty much already have my line to get out of small-talk when hanging out at the party; "So the only thing I know about you is that you're in (class we have together). Tell me about yourself"

Now, since I’m fairly new to analyzing my own process and am looking to improve, what did I do right/wrong and how can I change it for the better? Not that I expect otherwise, but be brutally honest, I can fully accept it if what I did is counter-intuitive to anything considered "game."
