A little background: My friends threw a party at our house last night. I wanted to stay lucid throughout the night as I was trying to get rid of my AA and get comfortable conversing, so I only had 3 drinks over the course of the night.

My goals for the night were 1) kino, 2) Holding up good conversation - no awkward silence & fun for everyone involved, 3) Projecting my voice

And, of course, being new to a lot of this and getting over my AFCness, I was always trying to just stay in the mindset of "just having fun." That really helped keep me relaxed.

Set 1: After the party got going, I ran into an old friend. He was with a blonde HB7 and a tall, brunette HB8. My friend suggests we play against the girls in beer pong, I say we're only playing if it's mixed doubles. I pair up with the HB8.

The game was fun, I kept initiating light kino (leaning in close, placing my hand on the small of her back to get her attention or when I was talking to her, giving high fives) but my only conversation with her was standard, boring questions ("How do you know [my friend]?", "Where on campus do you live?") but she still seemed very receptive.

After the game, they had plans to head to a different party and possibly come back later. I find the HB8, give her a hug and tell her if she comes back later, we'll party more then. My friend said she was asking about me after the game, but I totally spaced on getting her number and I didn't see her again. I'm really kicking myself for that as well as not being more agressive with the kino - pulling her in to me, dancing, more hugs/high fives....

Set 2: Another friend brought his girlfriend and her 2 friends - blonde HB7 and Brazilian HB7 - from her school 2 hours away. I hung out for a while in his room with all of them and got comfortable with everyone. But the room is too small and crammed and I seem to be the social center as everyone keeps looking to me when it goes silent. I bail for my room and tell them all they should come join (as there's more space and the two girls had complimented me as soon as I came in on how nice it was and how impressed they were).

After a few minutes, everyone just seems to shift over into my room. I'm chatting with my friend's girlfriend and one of her friends for a while about work and books, both are very receptive. It is worth noting at this point that I feel very "warmed up" or "in state" and am eager to try and push it and go for an f-close somehow. As I'm chatting with my friend's gf, her two HB7 friends come in and sit on both sides of her, with me facing them. I bridge the conversation into Body Language and Psychology (my major) and we talk about body language cues and the importance of kino. But, the only real kino I get in is shaking each of their hands (for shits-and-giggles) and giving high-fives.

For much of this time it was just the 4 girls and I in the room. They were all very interested and I was feeling VERY high value. The conversation jumps around for a while - from politics (ugh), to music, to one of the HB7's asking about my launchpad (drum pad for making electronic music) and me showing them how it works and some videos of it. I felt like all of this went on way to long, but I also was very much in control of the direction of it and it was mostly fun.

Finally everyone leaves and Brazilian HB7 and I are alone. I tell her she needs to add a quote to my wall (I have a canvas covered wall full of quotes above my bed) and we hang out on my bed, doing that for a bit. My friend comes in and joins us for a bit, but eventually leaves to look for his gf. After she's done with the writing, she grabs my guitar, tunes it up, and starts playing some songs. She has the most amazing voice, and the accent makes it 10 times sexier. When she's done she asks me about what I play and talks me into playing some music on the piano. I play some classical music, she loves it. When I'm done she messes around on it for a bit and we head back up to my room. It's worth noting that I was initiating very little kino - when we were walking back up the stairs I placed my hand on he back for a bit, but for the most part I was walking way to far ahead/away from her and initiating none of the comfortable touch I had been talking about earlier.

When get back to my room, she asks about where my friend is and I ask her where she's staying the night. She says in his room with her friends and goes to check on them. I'm feeling like I might be losing her at this point if I don't escalate, so when she comes back (after about a minute) and sits down I sit next to her and ask her (not very confidently, stumbling around a bit) if I can kiss her. She seems surprised and stumbling for something to say so I take it she's just waiting and I go in for the kiss. Bam! Immediately tongue galore - she seems really into it.

We make out for a few minutes before she stops and tells me how amazing and different I am from all the other guys she's ever met. I don't know what else to say but thanks and we go back to making out for a few more minutes. She stops again and says "I really shouldn't be doing this." I stare her in the eye and try to look unfazed and start kissing her again. She stops a little while later and stumbles around for a while before eventually telling me she "has someone else in Brazil." Having not expected to really get this far, I had no clue what to say to this. I say "okay" and tell her it's her decision and if she's not comfortable, then I'm fine with that, but that I like her and that she's safe here (?). I could tell she was really into it and was very hesitant to leave - she kept looking at me as if waiting for me to say the right thing to change her mind. I was drawing blanks though.

She says she can't do this - while she's rubbing the inside of my thigh - and I say that it's fine. She asks me if I have anyone, I tell her no (the truth, but perhaps not the best answer - could it have been a shit test or that she was worried that I would want something more than to just hook up if I was single?). She is still lingering, obviously looking torn about the decision. I ask her if she wants to stay, she says "I better not." We hug (lame) and she kisses me on the cheek and apologizes. I walk her out of the room she heads down the hall to my friend's room, where the other's are coincidentally at the door getting ready for bed. I say goodnight to them all and go to bed, pissed off that I had been so close.

The next morning I had to leave early for work so I didn't get to see her again. But I texted my friend, who was probably driving them all back to school, "If you're still hanging with the girls, tell them I send my regards. I had to run off to work so I couldn't say adios, but I had a really fun night."

All in all, I needed to be more confident in physically escalating and moving in for the kiss (tips?) and dealing with "someone else in Brazil" aka LMR. What would be my best way to approach this if something similar to it were to happen again?

Also, talking to more random girls and trying to get numbers would have helped my AA. But looking back on the night as a whole, I went way farther than I thought I would be.

TL;DR : Making out with Brazilian girl who is very receptive, but she brings up that she has "someone else in Brazil?" and eventually bails because of it. What do?
