I've had a long time inner fight against approach anxiety and embarrasing myself. Yesterday my FWB decided to end things so I decided to make the most of my day today. I had the idea of the "Short and sweet" kind of approach, where you just go, talk for a while and bail out.

I was reading the Inner Game of Tennis in a park when I overheard two girls speaking English (I'm in Spain). It's my last month in this town, the book was talking about anxiety and living in the present, and this girls were probably in summer classes. Perfect opportunity.

As the book said, I focused on my breath to relax, finished the chapter, hesitated a bit, manned up and went for it.

Opener: "Hello, I couldn't help overhearing you girls speaking English. Where are you from?"

We chatted for a bit, the girl I had the most interest in almost didn't talk. The other was nicer and I felt she was curious about me.

I had confident posture and was very open and felt very brave for a bit.

I asked too many questions, when talking about the city I should have said how the city made me feel, also I should have got closer.

I was shaking so I left early, I could have sat down with the girls and kept talking or asked them to go for a walk and grab a bite. I felt like the curious one was kinda surprised I was leaving so early.

Overall I consider the approach a success since the objective was just to approach after having a lot of instant rejections lately and I did it.

Also my ego is glad we didn't get instantly rejected again.
