I get a text from a buddy telling me to join him at this bar to watch a game baiting me with the "this bartender is so fucking hot" lure. I bite. I show up and she IS smoking hot. Caramel skin, glittery eyes, and a tight fitting, short dress that appropriately showed off all of her assets. Intrigued, I start flirting with her: smiling, solid eye contact, good posture, owning my space, non-sexually touching my buddy (arm around shoulders), and gently making fun of the things I find sexy about her. She's swooning, leaning in, and giving me the eyes. My friend (6 whiskeys deep) asks her to remind him of her name. The instant she says her name I remember her and let out an audible chuckle. I say to her, "you wouldn't happen to be the same [name] that allowed a Howard_the_Dolphin from Tinder to come over to hang out and watch an Av's game in your apartment lobby about two years ago, would you?" She immediately drew back, scowled, and said, "yes, I would be. All you did was talk about yourself the entire night. That was the first and last time I ever used Tinder." My buddy laughs so hard he almost fell off the bar stool. She then looks straight at me with a dead serious face and asks, "why didn't you ever call?" and then begins to walk away to tend to another customer. As she is walking away I matter of factly reply to her turned back, "because it was a horrible date." Without breaking stride or looking at me she just emits an, "hmmph" and continued walking away. Upon hearing this, my buddy loses it again.
It was at this moment that I realized that I truly didn't care if I ever saw this lady again or not. I have a hot, little 22 year old at my beck and call among others to play with, so I just honestly laughed it off and asked for another beer once she came back and proceeded to watch the game with my buddy. For the next 45 minutes or so I still maintained the previously mentioned frame (smiling, solid eye contact, good posture, owning my space, non-sexually touching my buddy, and gently making fun of the things I find sexy about her) and only engaged with her insofar as to order another drink and to make a few jokes about how I literally did not know anything about her even though we had spent several hours together previously. We tab out and I say to her, "you still have my number though, right?" To which she responds, "I didn't even have your number saved when we hung out." I give her the smile and tell her to have a good night. Now, it turns out I did still have her number in my phone and getting the sense that she had me pegged as an apathetic player, this is the exact message I sent her: [Her name], it was good to run into you tonight -as random as it was. I would like to actually have a chance to get to know you and to learn more about what you do. The fact that your passion is artisticly centered and that I did not latch onto that when we first met is astounding to me because I think that is amazing. but then again, how would I have known; I never asked you a single question. In short, I would like to see you outside of [Bar] and outside of your lobby. Let me know."
She got back to me the next day and we have plans a few days from today. Just wanted to share my experience, as I am sure that others have found themselves in the same position.
