Just a little different to your club scene. I don't see myself as a PUA or anything in fact it was just genuine confidence and humor so anyone can do this.

Setup: Flying to see a mate for the weekend, short flight around 45 minutes. I had booked early and had chosen a window seat.

Get on the plane and there is a HB 7 sitting in the seat next to mine, I stow away all my gear and sit down while saying in my head '3 second rule'. I knew I had to say something otherwise it would have been 45 minutes of silence. I ask "How much did you pay for your ticket?" This was an opener that was very situational but it worked as it started a conservation in which the HB would reply and that I could continue. She said that she bought the ticket today and that it was around $200. I replied saying how I booked early and got for less than $70 (this was sorta phrased as a neg) and introduced myself. I tried to stay away from boring generic questions like, where are your from, why you going to x simply as it wasn't the frame I wanted. I acted as if I knew this person for ages and because of this the conversation flowed well. Also if there was ever a pause there were so many opportunities to restart the convo, such as:

  • When the plane banked - say something like we must be lost
  • See a cloud - ask is that land or just a cloud
  • When you get offered a lollie - say dammit hate this flavour

Pretty much just kept the frame very social, very friendly. Made it seem as if I'm not trying to pick up (legitimately didn't expect to be) and just use the situation to my advantage.

Once we got into the terminal I pulled out my phone and said "Now that we can use our phones I should get your number", again using the situation to my advantage. We exchanged numbers while waiting at the bag claim area and went our separate ways. Unfortunately it had come up in convo that she wasn't staying where I was but still went for the #close.

Main point here is that I used the situation to my advantage and just had fun with the situation, this wasn't a looks or master PUA situation just someone having a good time which is what you want on a holiday.
