I'd met this girl through a bunch of mutual friends. After months of lurking here and pointlessly absorbing, and after getting back into town from a trip, I finally worked up the courage to ask her out.

Maybe it was in bad taste, since it was at her work (at a restaurant, but I'd met her a few times outside of it). But I just took the leap and did it.

I crashed and burned the hardest I ever have, but only due to her still having feelings for the guy she used to date. The fact she told me this might mean something, but it's no sweat off my back. It was direct, straight to the point, and polite. I feel GREAT.

A success from a failure - I'm still an ubernoob, but guys, get out there and just DO IT.
