I'm one my holiday traveling around and staying at hostels at the moment. It's a great way to meet new people and also the worst. If you pressurize yourself that this the way to do it and then don't do it...you gonna have a bad time! Yes you end up in the same shit as always and sitting in your room asking yourself why you don't have any people to go on vacation in the first place! It is kind of worse than at home when you are in foreign country / city and alone. I'm hard to myself here, because at day I do fine by doing exploration of the place I'm in, at night I'm to chicken shit to walk into a bar. So here is what happened last night:

The past week has been boring when it comes to social contact. Being on the move, reading a book in the park or terrace is fine and relaxing, but no where as fun when hanging out with people.

When I realized this (almost in a depressing way) I got down to the bar last night for a drink. Just one. Just struck up a few conversations and met some awesome guys. Then I met a guy that invited me into his pack of 3 other guys. We played some pool and we have been exploring the city today. Did-not-expect-that!

When I thought back about seduction, I concluded that this is the way it should be. And couldn't be better. Although I have talked to a girl and a guy that was probably interested in only girls. I was ending up doing real stuff instead of boring people with my talks.

Being so quickly accepted into a group of 4 men was, now that I think of it, quitte special. Because I realized it's not important to go for the girls only (or men for that matter), it's about finding compatible people. As much as possible, as mixed as possible (evolution anyone).

Another thing that was great about it, was to observe the group dynamic. There was clearly an alpha male that is steering the group. I have been careful not to overpower him by for example lead the group to a new venue. I respected his leadership by suggesting places or directions to the group and let them decide. I say them because he was leading by the influence of the others. He was being the catalyst (look that up) of ideas, illuminating them and then put them into action.

The most import lesson that night was being not needy. When I talked to some people a lot of conversions got to a dead end. I noticed my self try hard to get the conversation going. This was the sign to eject and go elsewhere. After a few times I ended up with the group and we shared a lot of common grounds. The next day we even learned that most of us are software programmers (yes, a bunch of nerds, so thats no excuse either).

TL;DR: Was bored in a hostel during holiday, got down for a drink, met awesome people to explore the city.
