Usually I just say "I gotta get back to my friends, but here you go" and I hand her my phone with the keypad out. Works every time

Use some line to bounce, e.g. need to get back to your friends, your leaving to another bar, etc. And get her number then. Here's an example since that is not very clear, but it's all very similar to the text game in the side bar.

Me: "Hey, I actually have to go meet some of my friends, but it was nice talking to you."

Her: "Oh really? Okay, yeah it was"

Me: "Yeah we should make this happen again"

Her: "Yeah"

Me: "Cool. Give me your number and we'll continue this conversation soon"

After I have her number, I usually text her immediately with some sort of funny comment. Then I'll hit her up again within a few days to meet me for a drink.

If I'm looking for the ONS then I'll tell her I have to go meet some friends, but to come find me later. Then when she does come up with some excuse for her to come see your place.

You said it yourself man, just pull the trigger. Of course, knowing what to do doesn't always make it easy :)

If I'm THAT confident that a girl is into me, I don't even think of how to make it "not awkward." You want her number, tell her to give it to you. I think someone else here already suggested just giving them your phone, and that's a great idea. Women can sense when you start to get nervous/awkward about trying to # close, so don't even think about it for a second. Just think in your head "of course she wants to give me her number, I'm awesome."
