Girl is really cute HB8, also a redditor though I'm 99% sure she's never heard of seddit. So, firstly the place I was planning to go was closed (unreliable website FTW) so I already felt like I was on the back foot. I tell her that I promised her a hot chocolate & I plan to deliver. We walk around a bit, but it's late & the only place open that'll serve hot choc & coffee is McCafe. I make a few jokes that she responds well to & we head inside. Now on the walk over I was making some conversation, but she wasn't saying much other than the shortest possible answers & giggling at my jokes. I hoped once we sat down she might open up more.

Sorta. We sat down next to each other on a bench seat, which I was happy about as it would make kino easier. I start talking about school, art, nude models. She seems to be getting into it, but I notice that she's facing straight ahead rather than toward me, & making almost no eye contact. This seems strange as otherwise the conversation is going smooth, so I figure she's just shy & to press on through. It does give me pause on the kino though as I'm unsure whether to keep going if she's not comfortable enough for even eye contact. After finishing the drinks I'm not keen on eating at Maccas (kiwi for McDonalds) so I suggest another far superior burger place. She agrees to go, but says she isn't too hungry. I say she can help with fries.

We get to the place, I make my order, ask if she's sure she doesn't want anything. She refuses, we go sit down. There's another minute of awkward silence (I feel a little tired of telling stories, but my questions to her are still getting only half answers) before I halfassedly make a crack about the silence to break the tension. Felt beta, but it got the talking started again. I try to resume kino, asking whether she has 'artist hands' & feeling them for apparent signs of artist wear & tear. This was going well till the waitress interrupted with my order. Started to eat the burger, offering her the chips which she now refused. I felt really uncomfortable eating in front of her, so only had a few bites of the burger before feigning fullness & suggesting to go to a bar one of my mates bartends at. She goes along at first then halfway there says she doesn't have ID. I assure her my mate will let her in, but as we get closer she says her Dad's been texting her about where she is. Apparently she didn't tell them she was going out. She says she has to get the bus so I walk her to the station, where her bus is already there. She jumps on straight away without much of a goodbye.

Pretty sure this one is dead in the water, but it was only my 2nd date ever & I'm not too fussed. I'm pretty sure I should've kino'ed earlier & more often, but otherwise I tried to stay cocky funny which seemed to work. I have pretty bad social anxiety, so I still see this as huge progress even if it was comparitively pretty bad.

TLDR: Date plans fall apart, improvise. Shy girl, can't break shell, prob not enough kino.
