<backstory>

So, I was at the local university festival the other day derping around with two mexican friends. They taught me a spanish phrase that effectly means 'I will fuck her', and we kept using it as we were walking around to point out attractive girls. We were looking down at the acapella singers and there were many people watching, I pointed out one girl I found attractive and they pointed out different ones, and they basically then forced me to approach her. I had the stupid idea of doing it in Spanish, so I had a super quick crash course in how to greet people, and did it. The only problem was that the singing was pretty loud with like 30 second breaks between songs, and everyone seemed to want to watch it, and my target was with 2 friends that I didn't engage, so I pretty much totally failed.

I hate losing, so I challenged the other two to a pickup contest, but it was getting pretty late and everything was being packed away. So we decided to do one approach each, where the other two pick the target, awesome! We walk to the main stage and there's some thrash metal band lead by a girl dressed as a schoolgirl, I pick out some girl and he manages about 5 mins of convo, but nothing amazing really.

Now it's the next guy's turn. We walk around a bit more, and in this small area with several vending machine we see 4 girls all on their mobile phones, we pick one out and he also talks to her for about 5 mins but she kind of looks very bored throughout the whole convo and pretty much always held her phone in front of her body.

Now it's my turn, right away this girl walks past me and I don't even see her properly and they say 'her!', I begin walking and the only thing going through my head was 'Shit... what do I open with?'. After about 5 seconds I catch up and basically walk in front of her and get her to stop, I open with:

Me: 'Hey!... You were just on stage singing acapella right?' Her: 'no...' Me: 'Really? You look so similar'

(I had no idea what to continue with at this point)

Me: 'But you did dance to it right?'

(She was pretty confused at this point, and due to amazing luck)

Her: 'I do some dancing though, you know AKB48(a popular j-pop group)?' Me: 'Yeah, where do you do that?' Her: 'Tomorrow at 3PM, at blah blah hall'

(I'm not a student here so I have no idea where this is)

Me: 'Where's that?' Her: 'Next to blah blah building'

(I begin pulling a confused face)

Her: 'Behind that building there' Me: 'You mean right behind it?' Her: 'No, a bit further' Me: 'Like... at the tennis courts?' (the courts are on the other side of campus) Her: laughing, 'not that far!' Me: 'I have no idea, can you show me?' Her: 'sure'

(This basically gave me a free 10 mins to talk to her)

We exchanged names and began talking about stuff, whenever talking about the dancing I refered to it as 'sexy dancing' and made a small dancing gesture when doing it, which she began reciprocating. She seemed pretty playful, and she seemed pretty excited when she found out we were the same age, and I attempted to hug her at this point which in hindsight made no sense really, but she high fived instead. I tried to facebook close, but she didn't have an account, I told her she should make one and add me, but I never tried to number close or anything.

We asked eachother many questions, the most memorable was when she asked where I was from and I asked her to guess, she said poland(I'm half English/Japanese with black hair!), which was a ridiculous guess which I teased her about. It was nearing the end of our walk and I tested to see if she remembered my name, she did, and we high fived(three times actually, because she messed up the first two), and I went on my merry way.

In hindsight, I should have tried to number close, because me potentially getting lost was the perfect excuse to ask for it. And I never did go to see the show due to bad weather.
