I might get downvoted for some of this but in my experience you're in a prime situation for a few reasons-

There are a lot of social events, and you don't need an excuse to talk to anyone. If they're in your house, that is reason enough. "Hi, you look new. Who are you friends with?" "What house are you? Or are you a GDI (God Damn Independent" "What's your major?" "Are you rushing xxx?"
Mixers are easy. This is an excuse to meet other people from other houses. Same questions above apply. "Who is your big?" Just start with Greek related matters and move on from there.
Sorority girls are interesting. With normal friends, if you hook up with one then the friends are off limits. But in the Greek system you have a community that is constantly changing partners and hooking up with a girl in one house makes you MORE desirable to the other girls--not less. It is a stamp of approval. It's kind of backwards, but remember they are all in subtle competition with the other girls in their house.
Make friends with all the houses. No matter what the allegiances are, you should have an in and someone who invites you to their events.
FORMALS!
Be friendly and aloof to everyone. You'll be surprised how far this gets you.
Be active. Don't miss out on anything.

I have some tips for house parties in general.

BRING THE MUSIC. People will have an excuse to talk to you if you bring the music. Plus, it shows how good your taste is. PS. Have good taste for the scene you are in.

BRING A CAMERA (or phone with a flash+camera). Pretty self-explanatory here. People see the flash, they look, they see you being cool. Social proof out the ass. Also, people will flock to you to take pictures with you.
