It could just be correlation, but I've always had an inclination towards writing, and have became more and more able to rhyme off the top of my head from doing it for fun. When I drive, I tend to rap over the beats I hear for fun. Lately as I've been doing it, I have been more and more able not only to think of rhymes, but to think of punchlines and metaphors at the top of my head too. If I can't think of a really cool line, joke, or simile, I sort of juggle simple filler words until I think of something or get inspired by my environment. I think developing the ability to pull ideas both from inside myself, and from my environment, has made me able to think quicker and more clearly in terms of know what to say.

Not only am I able to think a little faster in terms of what to say, but I feel more comfortable and relaxed in my ability to speak. As I picked up the pen and started writing and going over some of the "cooler" stuff I wrote, I feel like I strengthen the part of my mind that's creative in terms of communicating. I felt more confident in my ability to smoothen out my speech, and have been able to talk a little clearer and stronger and express more personality in my speech.

I experimented by spending 30 minutes in the morning rapping to myself while I was getting ready for work. I noticed by the time I got to work I talked smoother and more confidently. I was just more "connected" to my words.

Also, I've decreased the amount of time I read online arguments and listening to debates, and instead have been listening to more comedy. Not only have I found myself to be a little more lightheaded when coming into work, but I find myself talking about more positive things instead of always arguing or flaunting my skepticism. I'm giving a shit less about things that don't matter a whole lot to me and think of jokes instead of arguments, think of punchlines instead of rebuttals, find ways to compliment people instead of proving myself right.

Still, I'm no player but I wanted to share 2 small things that are helping me be more positive and communicate better. I've been more comfortable talking to girls and I think it's helped. I know actors and speakers have similar exercises that help them improvise. If any of you have tips to help you improvise better, I'm down! Actually, I might even look into improv classes next (for fun of course).
