For those who do well without a vehicle, what are your ways?

I just got rid of my vehicle and started biking a lot more now, cheaper for school etc. But I can't do the same of taking my girl out to a date, picking her up and dropping her off. I just tell her to meet up or come over. Usually works out well but I'd like to know how you guys handle not having a vehicle in a rather larger city
