If I only ever approach 10s, I'm almost guaranteed to fail because I'll be completely out of practice and coming from a scarcity mentality. On the other hand, if I approach 7s, 8s, and 9s, I will approach and succeed far more often, build a good skill-set and foster a better mindset.

In reality, I've been using this as an excuse to not approach 7s, 8s, and 9s, but when I see a 10, I get massive approach anxiety and make some excuse not to approach.

How do you guys reconcile wanting to improve your game with knowing that you'll break hearts and hurt girls along the way? If you're a good guy, then even if you're crystal clear that it's just a physical relationship, realistically she's going to fall in love. It's happened several times in my life, sometimes with very bad consequences. (Although I must add that in the past, I've done very little approaching and just took the girls that pretty much threw themselves at me.)

I have good intentions -- I'd love to find a great girl and settle down, but I feel like I'm stuck in a weird dating paradox. Little help?
