So I saw this HB 8 on the train, and I knew I had to approach her. I commented on her fingerless gloves. At first she gave me a cold stare and looked away. One for a challenge, I continued my approach saying that I was looking for gloves like those. I then told her that I made a new years resolution to meet new people, and that she looked really nice. This calmed her down. She began to make small talk with me.

The difference in her reaction was incredible once I gave her a reason for why I was talking to her. Oftentimes this is reason is along the lines of telling a girl she is cute, thus giving the reason for approaching her. When she knows the why she is much more receptive.
