So I approached a girl randomly (something I never did before) and it feels awesome to have done it! I generally have no problem talking to women in social settings but a cold approach is so out of my comfort zone! So this is HUGE for me!

Sure I was nervous but that's what makes approaching so much fun! Kinda like going on a rollercoaster ride. The fear works in your favor: it makes the experience much more enjoyable.

Mistakes I made: I asked her, "May I join you?" And she said, "I am waiting for my mom." And I automatically walked away. Clearly I bought the bait (I.e. the excuse).

Had I prepared myself before I think things would have turned out differently. I intentionally don't memorize lines and such but I suppose they may help.

Either way approaching is more important to me now and I am glad I had the guts to do what most men would never do!

BTW, I believe /r/nofap had something to do with it.

EDIT: I just realized what I could have said instead: I saw you sitting here by yourself and thought I would like to get to know you. My name is Jason, what's your name?

so my mistake was opening with a question which puts me in a disadvantage. By making a statement and then asking for her name the conversation would have gone in a completely different direction altogether.

Lesson learned!
