Pretty much, 2 is enough work, 3 is pushing it 4 is overdoing it. First dates to see if they deserve a second date, remember to have an over abundance attitude. This means that if you have 4 first dates you should only have 2 second dates and go from there. If by the second date you didnt make progress, in what ever area you are interested in, be it casual fwb, fmsex, dating, then a third date could solve that, but only if you are juggling 2 people. 4 you are stretching yourself out. You cant remember as well the nuances of their behaviours, thei quirks, what they talked about. So it starts to boil down to not even making headway with either. And they will know this as well. I try to limit myself to dating 2 women at a time, if I can handle it. But generally one a week then maybe another in next or later week, whilst still going for causal hookups sort of thing when it happens. Because I dont have the energy or desire to do more. If after 3 weeks I feel like I dont see what I want out if her beyond sex, then I have to cut it out. No sense wasting both our times.

Look at my post and see what I was/am doing. It's still work, but maybe better than how you are managing things currently? Maybe we should collaborate?

This community is flooded with people who should be on AskSeddit. They ask a lot of hand-holding questions and drive away the veterans who would otherwise enjoy this place, and contribute their knowledge. I think I'll make a post soon asking the mods to Lock the community as read only and have a requirement of a certain amount of karma on AskSeddit in order to post here. Additionally they could implement a system where by you are blocked from posting here after too many down-votes for shit posts.

It's not necessarily resource consuming. It's very possible to be juggling 4-6 people without having to spend a whole lot on it. At least money-wise.

If you're talking about actual formal dates with girls then this is your mistake.

Getting to know people at social events can basically replace first or second dates and then you're finding out if there's chemistry while doing something fun. And when you ask someone for one on one time, you're already dealing with known chemistry. Sometimes, you're just hooking up straight from the events, if things go well.

What are you even saying here?

If you don't like them, then what is the motivation in texting them at 11 pm?

I can't see the potential value in desperately texting someone you're not attracted to.

I'm not generally over talkative person, so having a lot of conversations going at the same time is consuming my brain power.

If you're juggling multiple girls, you do need to take some notes to keep things straight. Even basic shit like notes in the phone book contact page, can help.
