[Help] College parties 101

Just wearing khakis and a nice shirt. Usually drink cheaper beer (Natty light, Keystone, etc.) or jungle juice typically. There usually is an area where there is dancing and an area where there is more talking. Just be a friendly person and talk to whomever you want to and it'll be a lot of fun!!!

Be a super-friendly version of your actual self. Maintain your same interests, but be very open about learning about others, and bonus points if you find people with similar interests. Don't drink too much, but don't be afraid to have fun.

This is my second year in college and I faced the same anxieties about parties when I first came here for similar reasons to your own. Since my first day on campus I have gone to a lot of parties and here are my answers to your questions: 1. Find people in the know about parties, it's not weird to ask where the party is on the weekend. Doesn't mean they have to be your bestfriends but definitely good to have at your disposal. 2. As far as clothes, the safe route is to go super generic. vans/sperrys, jeans/khakis, simple t shirt or collared shirt. 3.PenisWine69 laid out how parties usually go; an area for dancing, an area for talking, an area for smoking, usually a beer pong table 4. Find what you like to drink and know your limit, cheap beer is the typical go to but it's cheap and shitty. Liquor is more expensive but can get you drunk faster 5. If you have a pregame at your place and make it a regular thing, I PROMISE YOU that you will gain more popularity in this circle. Pregaming is a great way to ease into the party mode and drink enough to feel good before going out and if you don't want to get hammered, your inhibitions are relaxed so your night will start off good because you'll be comfortable in your own skin and then after awhile you'll sober up but you'll still be feeling good and out of your shell. 5. MEET NEW PEOPLE. Best way is to get to the beer pong table and just find a random partner, you'll meet a cool guy/girl and from there meet their friends. If someone has a bottle of something just asking "hey what is that" people love to show that off and if they seem generous you can just ask, "can I get a shot of that" or "I've never tried that, it is good?" BOOM. New party friend. 6. The biggest thing is to learn the lingo. I go to a predominately black college and I'm as white as a newborns butt in the golden sunshine but they all love me because I learn the dance moves, learn the handshakes/phrases/etc. Knowing the lingo is especially nice when people are talking about alcohol because you can chime in and say "EW GROSS BURNETTES IS SHIT" and everyone is like "YEAH FUCK BURNASTIES" and you look like you know your shit. 7. Bonus, if you throw after parties at your place not only is there a much higher chance you'll get laid but also you'll meet new people and gain a solid reputation. 8. Check out Nick Spark's speeches on the 21 convention youtube page, they're all great but one of them he talks about parties sorry I can't remember the specific one. Hope this helps, cheers.
