As a rule of thumb, anytime it takes more than a paragraph to explain a backstory like this, it's too much drama to even bother with, unless the girl is like a drop dead gorgeous 10, and even then. I'd just go meet some dame who's boyfriend I don't know.
The other thing I want to say is, instead of trying to muscle in on this dude's girlfriend, you should probably hang out with him more, and learn what a suicidal man is doing to have a comitted girlfriend AND have girls hitting on him all the time.

I didn't think to reply to you initially, but I found your comment again and thought I should give you thanks. I totally agree. Eventually, I just gave up on entertaining the idea that she would leave him. I was being naive and found someone else that summer. All of that trouble was definitely not worth it, but I wish I had processed your advice earlier. I might have just ended it right then between her and me.
